Thursday, February 22, 2018 · Pivotal Labs, Toronto ·108 attended

A workshop on 64-bit Linux binary exploitation, taught by Harold Rodriguez (superkojiman). Topics ran from a quick intro to Intel x86 assembly through old-school stack smashing, finding vulnerabilities, shellcode and exploitation, then on to preventing stack overflow attacks. The tools were gdb, pwndbg, pwntools and IDA Pro.

Harold is a systems administrator at the University of Toronto and a CTF player who focuses on binary exploitation and reverse engineering. He holds the OSCP and OSCE. The workshop was hands-on, built around a Linux VM that attendees ran on their own laptops.
